Making Friday Night Football Fantastic for All Our Students and Guests

As football season gets underway, we are excited to see the support of our future Firebirds and Thunderhawks for our East and West teams. In order to have the best fan and team experience, we want to ensure that students represent our school, and themselves, in the best possible way, meaning they have clear expectations for stadium behavior.

While we want our younger students to come and support the teams, it is important that they understand that the student code of conduct and school rules apply at all times when they are at a Lakota event – even if the event is not at their school.

The main purpose of a football game is to enjoy the game. While we understand socialization is important, students should watch the exciting field action from the stands. Students should also be aware of their volume, language and actions so as to be respectful to other visitors and spectators. As students, we want to ensure we show respect for other students, our visitors and the facilities themselves; thus, please be mindful of throwing away trash and food. Lastly, students should be aware that no bags or sporting equipment will be allowed in the stadium.

While our principals certainly speak to our students about appropriate behavior to help reinforce these expectations, please partner with us and remind your student(s) about appropriate behavior when attending high school games, or any Lakota event. At this time, we do not plan to change attendance rules for students in grades 6-8. However, should the behavior be problematic, we may be forced to follow other area schools and instill rules such as requiring parental attendance for students through eighth grade, limiting the areas in which younger students can be present and requiring the purchase of presale tickets. 

We want all of our students to be able to enjoy our school events, which includes understanding behavioral expectations. We look forward to our junior high students being able to enjoy cheering on our Firebirds and Thunderhawks. Thank you for partnering with us.
